OOTD: Plus Size Swapping

Following up from my post earlier on Northampton's first Plus Size Clothing Swap I'd thought I'd post what I wore for it!

Dress - F+F at Tesco (quite old though!)
Tights - Evans
Shoes - Next

I bloomin' love this dress. I've had it for a couple of years so it's been washed countless times but it's still as good as new. It's so comfy and is just the right thickness for warming it up with a cardi or wearing it on it's own for the summer. Long may it live in my wardrobe and on my body!

Northampton's First Plus Size Clothing Swap!

A few weeks ago I hosted Northampton's first Plus Size Clothing Swap at my favourite vintage shop A Most Marvellous Place to Shop in their cafe. Inspired by Lolly and Rebecca who recently hosted one in Leeds, I decided to give it a whirl. It took more planning than I had anticipated but I ended up really enjoying it. My mum helped me out loads with printing and laminating tokens (which were exchanged for items and then 'spent' on new ones) and size signs and I had two friends who helped me out on the night as well as my lovely husband.

There was a bit of a surge to get to the clothes at the beginning!
Despite being enormously nervous that nobody would turn up or they would and it'd just be a huge, disorganised disaster, it went really bloody well! We did run out of tokens very quickly but that didn't matter too much in the end and at least now I know I need more for the next one. I handed out feedback forms during the evening and everyone was really positive. The only thing that flagged up was the lack of physical space we were given but fortunately after popping into the shop yesterday, they've had a little reshuffle and the cafe space is much bigger!

Browsing! And my two gorgeous helpers, Sinead and Robyn.
It was wonderful to meet so many gorgeous women all of whom seemed so pleased to have an opportunity to find new pretty new clothes and new friends. I loved seeing people sitting down with a cup of tea and a bit of cake towards the end of the evening, it was exactly what I'd hoped for.

My darling husband's 'I'M UNCOMFORTABLE WITH ALL THESE WOMEN' face!
Robyn, Sinead, myself and my mama.

The feedback was so positive it made my heart swell! I wanted to create a supportive, non judgemental environment where plus size women could celebrate their love of fashion and it definitely worked. I can't wait to do more so in the spirit of continuing the fun the next swap is taking place on Thursday 30th May so if you're in the Northamptonshire area or know anyone who is, come along!

OOTD: The Day Polkadots Vomitted On Me

If you haven't already noticed (because you live in a cave), I really love polkadots. There's almost always something polkadotted upon my person whether it's my knickers, my dress or a handbag. Sometimes though, I overdo it a little bit...

The dress is one of my favourite Simply Be dresses and the beautiful scarf came in a press pack I very kindly received from Pepperberry. I'm also wearing a lipstick I picked up at the Professional Beauty show. It's a Dita Von Teese for Art Deco one and a quite a different colour than I'm used to. I'm still undecided on it!

What do you think? Too many polkadots?!

Bravissimo Boob School!

I wonder how many words I can use for boobs during this post...

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to visit Knockers HQ at Bravissimo's flagship store in Oxford Circus with the lovely Betty from Tales From Betty Bee Towers. As well as being an enormously fun day full of adorable cakes adorned with bra faux pas, giant school pencils and a lot of boob orientated gesturing, it was extremely educational too.

Bra afficiandos, Bravissimo have launched the world's first Boob School to educate women on all things boob! They believe every woman should feel brilliant about their lady lumps and want to teach women how to look for a perfect fitting bra, because not only does it feel comfortable but it has the power to change the way you look and feel about yourself. The launch of Boob School rather nicely coincides with the 100th anniversary of the invention of the first bra! My boobies thank you, creator of the over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder!

Bravissimo's research found that there are seven common faux pas that the women of Britain are making.

All these faux pas were placed around the beautifully laid out room and it was such fun wandering around to see which ones applied to us! Apparently 4 out of 5 of us are wearing the wrong bra size and us with bigger tatas are the worst for it. We have no problem changing our dress size when we lose or gain weight but very few of us think to get re-fitted for our bras. Whhhy? Look after your jubblies!

It was a wonderfully put together day; so much care and attention was put in from the giant hopscotch to the incredible, enormous bra development timeline. You can tell these women truly love what they do, their enthusiasm and passion is infectious.

There are a two ways in which you can become a Boob School Graduate. You can find your nearest Bravissimo store and have a fitting by a bra expert or you can use their magical Facebook app. Your boobs are important, take care of them!

Betty and the boob cakes!
The lovely little school touches made it so fun!
Ooh la la!
We ended our day in the best way possible...with the tastiest burgers known to man courtesy of The Diner

Look at my happy, fatty face :D

ps. Keep an eye out for another post next week all about my complementary bra fitting and the amazing bra I went home with!
