OOTD - Professional Beauty 2013

I went on my first 'school' trip in about 15 years yesterday. Okay, it was with college but it involved a coach, regimented timing and Haribo. We went to the Professional Beauty show at Excel in London as part of our beauty course. I was really looking forward to going and despite a few anxious moments, it was a lovely day!

This is what I wore...

Blame the awful light and exposure on my husband's lack of interest at 7.30am!

Dress - Collectif (probably my favourite Collectif dresses I own!)
Cardigan - Tesco

I'm going to do an in-depth post later in the week about the Professional Beauty show and the few little bits I picked up so keep your eyes peeled!

OOTD: School Ma'am Meets Old Lady

Mr D and I went out for lunch with his family for his grandma's birthday on Saturday to a beautiful restaurant called Robinsons in Newport Pagnell. It was one of the most incredible meals I've ever had. I have smoked salmon and scallop cakes with horseradish cream to start, corn fed chicken breast with leek mousse, potato rosti and cabbage for my main and a apple, rhubarb and berry crumble for pudding. I'm dribbling just thinking about it!

I wanted to wear something comfortable for stuffing myself purposes but also something smart-ish. I opted for a long, black skirt with a sheer overlay from Simply Be and my beautiful Clements Ribeiro for Evans cardigan. I don't wear the skirt very often because it makes me look a bit school ma'am-y but I do love the swishiness of it.

The whole outfit does nothing for my shape and makes me look quite shapeless and frumpy but I felt good in it! I'm working a lot on being more body positive and for years I've shied away from wearing things because I didn't think they would flatter my shape even if I really loved them. There are some looks I probably won't ever go for but frumpy school ma-am meets old lady is not one of them ;)

Vintage China Buys

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before but I'm in the process of collecting vintage china with a view to starting my own little tea party business. My mum and I have been collecting bits and pieces for about a year and I think we finally have enough to start.

My mum had always collected bone china trios so I learnt at a young age what to look for. I bypass so many trios because they don't meet my standards which makes me sound like a ponce but I know what I like! It may not always be to other people's tastes but I'm hoping that each individual will be able to pick out a trio they like for their tea and cake!

These are the few bits I've picked up since the new year.

Vintage Paragon milk jug and cut glass jam pot.

Bone handle butter knives and a matching vintage floral trio, milk jug and sugar bowl.
I normally avoid matching milk jugs and sugar bowls. I like my trios themselves to match but not the rest. However these were too pretty to pass up! They're so delicate and beautifully painted.

Tuesday this week is my day for sitting down and making an inventory of everything I have so I can see what else I need before I get started. I think I'm almost there now!

Lazy Weekend OOTD

Whilst I don't own any trousers or am far more comfortable in dresses, there are days when all I want to do is slop around in a big jumper. Today is one of those days.

I'm not sure what's more attractive; my lily-white legs, spotty slippers or lack of lipstick... Either way I'm bloody comfy!

Sweet-Cards-And-Plenty-Of-Heart-Shaped-Chocolate Day!

Husband's jumper and crazy hair; a sexy combination.

My hairy husband and I had planned to spend a few days in Penarth in Wales as we have done every February since we met. However, funds are seriously limited at the moment so instead we are spending the day on the sofa in our pyjamas with the cats, a few films and some treats!

Cheeky Frog aphrodisiac popcorn courtesy of the lovely folk at Blinkbox!
We got ourselves one of the Valentine's meal dealios from M&S so later on we'll have a shower, put some proper clothes on and have ourselves a romantic little dinner.

Do you have any plans for today?

Love,
Mrs D x
